These pressure sensors are designed to withstand high pressures, corrosion, and water infiltration since they operate underwater. Pressure vary from 0-15 psi through to 0-10,000 psi.
They typically use a pressure sensor to detect the ambient water pressure. This data is converted to an analogue or digital signal and transmitted electrically to monitoring equipment on the surface or internally to the ROV or diver.
Communication is done via electrical cables. Electrical signals allow real-time monitoring or alternatively combine data recorders on the device to log pressure over time.
Key components include the pressure sensor, signal conditioning circuitry, communication hardware, watertight housing/cabling, mounting equipment, and power source (battery or cable power).
Applications include oil and gas subsea pipelines and equipment, underwater research, oceanographic studies, and offshore systems that require long-term pressure monitoring underwater.
